However, for HIKERS there are beautiful tours leading from the canyon of Velika Paklenica through the upper valley and up into the mountains. In a two-day trip you can visit the highest peak of Velebit range – Vaganski vrh (1757 m) and many others just as interesting. Very different than Velika Paklenica, the other canyon – the one of Mala Paklenica has not been touched by machinery or commerce. It is left REALLY WILD for a more adventurous spirit to explore and we find it much more interesting than the main canyon. Only in dry season is it possible to thread your way through it by scrambling, squeezing through and hopping across huge boulders on the dry riverbed. It requires quite some technical skills and physical effort. Even more demanding is to LINK BOTH CANYONS, starting in Mala Paklenica and finishing in Velika Paklenica. Those who make it are rewarded with such a complete experience! A word of warning, though. The canyons and many mountain peaks are accessible by more than 50 MARKED TRAILS but please understand that in the mountains (especially on karst like Velebit) even following a trail can be dangerous. So please never go up there alone or split from your group. Always make sure at least one of you is well experienced and safety conscious. Keep in mind that weather in the mountains can quickly change for the worst and likely in ways you may not be familiar with and prepared for. If you are having doubts, we can help you with advice or suggest a guided tour. Paklenica is also visited by thousands of CLIMBERS from all over Europe. It is well known for its highest quality limestone rock with VERTICAL CLIFFS up to 400 meters high. There is even an annual Big Wall Speed Climbing competition initially sponsored by Red Bull and Mammut where you can watch world class climbers fighting for seconds on difficult routes hundreds of meters above ground. The rock features are very varied – slabs, cracks, flakes and pockets. Also, there are these curious features common in Paklenica (but very rare outside of Velebit) which are called "škrape" (plural, pronounced sh-cra-peh). These are parallel jagged flutings made by water erosion and can be as narrow as a finger or up to a few meters wide. Sometimes climbing them is easy and fun, other times it feels like torture. :) There are more than 200 short sport routes of various difficulties (from 3 to F8b+) and some 150 bolted multi-pitch routes in the similar range of difficulties but up to 350 meters high! Officially, there is somewhat less than 50 traditionally protected multi-pitch routes but rest assure there is more if you just ask. ;-) Climbers can find their way around in no-time thanks to an EXCELLENT GUIDEBOOK. Non-climbers can still test themselves on many EASIER ROUTES under our instruction and care for safety, all climbing equipment provided. We offer an introductory sport climbing course for those who would like to learn more, a short refresher course for the rusty as well as an advanced multi-pitch course for experienced sport climbers. We are Marko and Josipa. We have chosen Paklenica to base the crème de
la crème of our offer. Like most other places on the Adriatic the summer season works
for itself. Some guests regular, others passing by. The beaches are five-minute walk away and our

Paklenica National Park is a large area in the south of Velebit mountain range where two
large canyons cut across the Velebit mountain from the land to the Adriatic sea. It is a must-see,
if only to admire it from the safety of the cobblestone path along the main canyon.
Of course, you don't have to take a course if you just need a place to stay. In Paklenica we offer you
